John 1: 1-3

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.
Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

 

The Meaning of "Word" in Greek

The Greek word logos (λόγος) is usually translated in the Gospels as "word,"
it means "computation," "relation," "explanation," "law," "rule of conduct," "continuous statement,"
"tradition," "discussion," "reckoning," "reputation" (when applied to people), and "value."
